Hall of Flowers

In addition to all of our other exiciting activities, one of the fair trademarks is the hall of flowers. Each year flower enthusiasts both young and old come together at the fair to proudly display their arrangements and gardens at our floral wonderland.

The annual hall of flowers at the fair is our tribute to all of the greenthumb gurus in the area. A hearty "thank you" to the growers, gardeners, dreamers and organizers that invest hundreds of hours each and every year to make their displays some of the highlights of the fair. The adoring crowds are always amazed at the floral arrangements put together by our local residents. Some arrangements are realistic while others are filled with imagination and fantasy, but they are always fantastic.

Planning of the floral displays typically begins in the spring with planting many of the annuals that are often included in the arrangements like carnations and daisies. Recent years seem to have also included an increased usage increase in the usage of sunflowers which provide a dramatic pop of color. Of course, spring is also an important time of the year to prep the perennials like lilies and the roses which are always center-stage.

Recent entry favorites (and blue ribbon winner) include a tribute to local waterfowl made with lilies, ivy, moss and roses. One of the more colorful entries this past fair was a hot air balloon scene made entirely of carnations. Wow! Also one of the more dramatic entries this past fair was a landscape with a fully functioning waterfall surrounding beautiful arrangements of lilies, irises and carnations.

If it is not fair time and you are in the mood for some local flora or your own, you can always order online here otherwise we'll see you next summer at the hall of flowers!
